In two years of Covid scams, surely the Omicron variant takes the cake.  Watch for the Covid class to double down on hysteria, panic and punishment, with boosters on top of  boosters, against a viral enemy that now appears impotent.

At last an Australian politician has come out and actually said what the whole anti-Covid push is about.  Pity that the policy objective is impossible to achieve, is built on lies and will destroy what little remains of our freedoms.

The Covid vaccines have been hailed as the world's route out of lockdown and associated measures.  Not so fast, as we now are coming to realise.  The inept Morrison Government should be held to far higher standards of accountability for our Covid mess and for all of the vaccine lies the Government has told or allowed.

The MeToo brigade were, sadly, not done with the vicious pursuit of Cardinal Pell.  A year on, they are back for another Christian.  Guilt by accusation, admittedly dished out with ideological selectivity, is in season again.  Destroy.  Destroy.  Destroy.  A version of this article appeared in The Spectator Australia of 13 March 2021.

Losing Trump was just like losing Abbott.  Two feisty conviction politicians with much in common have been lost to the West.  Their many enemies are grinning.  We will miss them both.  (A version of this article appears in the 6 February 2021 edition of The Spectator Australia).

2020 was the very worst of times.  A year not to savour but to regret.  What was thought inconceivable a mere twelve months ago is now real.  It can never be inconceivable again.  Barring a miracle or concerted political action by those who resent our loss of freedom, a dystopian future surely awaits us all.

The Anglosphere faces a crisis of leadership.  The West is now ruled wall-to-wall by second rate ideologues and/or chancers, either determined to change the global order or powerless to prevent the revolution we now face.

The governments, including Australia's, that have jettisoned freedom and the economy to save us all from a largely limp virus, are banking on getting away with one more big lie to get them off the electoral hook.  It is called a vaccine.

Conspiracy theorists are everywhere.  Sometimes, though, they are called acute observers, social scientists, historians, critical thinkers.  Governments and others may not have planned the Covid epidemic, but many with agendas are cashing in.  Call them convergent opportunists.

When protest buses attacking Daniel Andrews get forced off the road by police, and when politicians abuse private sector executives for doing their jobs, there is clearly something very wrong with our public services.  It all goes back to an unhealthy 1980s obsession with privatisation and "new public management".
