Many Catholics (and High Church Anglicans) are beyond dismayed at the vandalising of their liturgies by modernist and post-modernist clergy who refuse simply to "say the black and do the red".  It is time that rock-star pastors realised the damage they have done to sacred traditions and to the beauty of God-shaped and God-oriented worship, and abandoned their ego-driven ways.

"You Are Forbidden From Getting Help"

Written by

We live in shark infested waters, and Daniel Andrews is a shark.  Never assume it is safe to go into the surf in these waters, as Andrews' proposed legislation banning "conversion therapy" shows.

A Tale of Four Cities

Written by

The story of the US election can be told as a tale of four cities.  As Dickens might have put it, it may just be the worst of times.

Love's Labour's Lost

Written by

Does the left now despise the working class?  A British Labour dissident thinks so, and has written a book about it.  And he wants to change his Party.  In Australia, an ALP politician may this week have called time on the Labor woke-ocracy as well.

The Coming Covid Gulag

Written by

The Gulag Archipelago is coming to a Western democracy near you, very soon.  Not content with closing down economies and societies, and suppressing freedom, governments and their fellow travellers are now coming for the dissidents.

Biden's Useful Idiots

Written by

Useful idiots are, well, useful.  Uncle Joe Biden has plenty.  What are they up to?  And what will they deliver?

The Anglosphere faces a crisis of leadership.  The West is now ruled wall-to-wall by second rate ideologues and/or chancers, either determined to change the global order or powerless to prevent the revolution we now face.

Mourning in America

Written by

The United States of America are broken.  We knew that.  But are they corrupt as well?  There are many questions about this election that need some answers.  Americans this week should be wearing black.

Leo the Great

Written by

There are Two Leos the Great.  One was a famous pope.  The other was my father.

Louise Milligan, who sought to destroy the reputation of Cardinal George Pell, has written a new book.  She should have, instead, abjectly apologised for having written the first one.

The False Promise of Local Government Amalgamations

Written by

The latest financial scandal in New South Wales concerns the disastrous attempt to merge local councils.  It has cost taxpayers a billion dollars, for little gain.

The Big Lie That Will Save ScoMo's Skin

Written by

The governments, including Australia's, that have jettisoned freedom and the economy to save us all from a largely limp virus, are banking on getting away with one more big lie to get them off the electoral hook.  It is called a vaccine.

Judging Trump - Four Years On and (Perhaps) Counting

Written by

Americans face, as they always say, their most important election in a generation.  Assessing the merits of any president isn't always easy.  Assessing the merits of Donald Trump is a whole other thing.

When protest buses attacking Daniel Andrews get forced off the road by police, and when politicians abuse private sector executives for doing their jobs, there is clearly something very wrong with our public services.  It all goes back to an unhealthy 1980s obsession with privatisation and "new public management".

Victoria's Equality for Faith Campaign

Written by

The Catholic Premier of Victoria seems hell bent on shutting down churches, and especially the Catholic Church.  The fightback, though, is under way.

New Zealand has rewarded its sainted prime minister, heroine to the world, with a second term, following a landslide election result.  How did she do it?

Circling the Wagons for Gladys

Written by

Many are coming to the defence of the NSW Premier following her outing as a consort of the corrupt.  Their arguments in her favour, all five of them, are without merit.

Pants on Fire

Written by

Should Daniel Andrew resign?  Should his NSW counterpart?  The chances are that each of these paragons of morality and competence has covered up the truth in the inquiries they have faced over the last week or so.  The now failed states of New South Wales and Victoria deserve much, much better.

Scotties and Chotties - A Marriage Made in Covid

Written by

We now inhabit a strange world where politicians and health bureaucrats, working in tandem, run just about every element of our lives.  This weird new system has replaced democracy as we once knew it, and it may not be over any time soon.  We should all find this quite chilling.  And sinister.

The Light Ages

Written by

It is fashionable to deride the Middle Ages.  "Medieval" is normally an insult, a term of abuse.  A new book begs to differ.  Pondering the lessons of the book, one is drawn to massive contrasts between our own age and that of "the medievals".  And the contrasts are mostly not in our favour.

The Pell Haters Are All at See

Written by

After a silent six months, the Pell haters are back on task, following the Cardinal's return to Rome.  The Cardinal's exoneration by the High Court will not satisfy many of us who are still determined to see that those who sought his crucifixion are themselves brought to justice.  The story just got murkier.

Educating the Next Generation of Nominal Catholics

Written by

At least one diocese in Australia is showing itself to have become prey to secularist progressive ideology.  There may well be others.  Nothing could be more harmful to school aged Catholics than the potential indoctrination herein exposed.  The smoke of satan within the Church clearly outlived the pontificate of St Paul VI.

Was Sweden Wrong About Covid, and Australia Right?

Written by

A number of Australians have asked - why should we follow Sweden's approach to lockdown, when Sweden's death rate per million of population is worse than ours?  Here is why we should have.
